Nature of Worship

Nature of Worship is The Worship Network's newest initiative, a national network of churches influencing the “nature” or environment of worship through music and the arts. The NoW offers worship leaders a collaborative model for developing resources and sharing ideas, and its "from the church, to the church" emphasis presents new ways of developing products and events.

The Nature of Worship will begin with a core network of 12 churches. Four worship leaders have already joined, and more will be invited in the coming months. While these leaders are geographically, denominationally and stylistically diverse, they are united in a focus on Christ and a commitment to the role of the arts in worship. Each leader’s regional influence also contributes to NoW’s role as a true national network.

Scott Dyer has served as Pastor of Worship and Arts at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship near Dallas, TX since 2004. Before joining the Bent Tree team, Scott spent 14 years on staff with Willow Creek Community Church and the Willow Creek Association. While at Willow Creek, Scott was a worship leader, songwriter and vocalist. Scott’s song “Forgive Me” was recorded by Rebecca St. James and BarlowGirl and was performed live at the Dove Awards in April of 2006. He's written several other songs including “Everything I Am,” “Lay Your Burdens Down,” and “Ancient of Days.” Scott and his wife, Vonda, teach vocal seminars at churches and have produced a series of vocal exercise CDs to help singers. They live in Lewisville, TX with their two daughters.

Bruce Carroll

Tim Foot

Bruce began his musical career as a singer/songwriter and spent years playing folk music in bars and clubs throughout his native Texas. After finding Christ in 1979, he “changed his tune” and journeyed to Nashville where his new beliefs found expression in Christian music—and earned two Grammy awards, seven Dove awards and 11 Number 1 hits on the Christian charts. Today he serves as Worship Director at Hope Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN, one of the fastest-growing churches in America.

This ministry also allowed Bruce to launch an in-house record label at Hope; he writes and produces new material and performs numerous concert dates each year. He recently released a new album entitled Big World and is the author of the best-selling book Sometimes Miracles Hide. Bruce and his wife Nikki are currently at work on a second book.

Greg Allen

Greg received a B.A. from Milligan College and his MDiv from Southern Seminary. After serving as Youth Minister from 1983-1990, Greg became the Worship Leader at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY, one of the biggest churches in the country. He leads worship for weekend services and special Southeast events and has led the recording of three Southeast worship albums. Greg is a Team Leader on the Administrative Team and oversees the 15-member worship ministry staff.

Greg recorded a solo worship CD, Between the Songs, which includes six original songs accompanied by brief biblical worship teachings. He teaches "Foundations for Biblical Studies" at colleges and other churches and has served as an on-air host for The Worship Network since 1999.
