Worship Is....Creating like The Creator

Redeemer Presbyterian Church recently announced its 2nd-annual Business Plan competition. The church began the program last year to start organizations that meet unmet needs and live out the gospel. Three new companies (an environmental networking site, a nonprofit organization providing medical services to needy New Yorkers, and a theater company for Christian playwrights) successfully began after last year's competition, and winners of this year's contest will also receive Redeemer resources to start well.

The competition is part of a larger Entrepreneurship Initiative which launched to "start new organizations, accelerate change, unleash Redeemer's untapped potential, and live out the gospel [by] bringing its message of hope, love and justice to the whole city."

Redeemer--and its Center for Faith and Work which also offers support and fellowship for artists, marketing professionals, educators, graduate students, lawyers, and more--realizes worship includes integration of faith into every area of life.

"Redeemer's vision is to promote cultural renewal in all the institutions and professions that comprise New York City and impact the world around us," the church shares on its website. "As part of this vision, we hope to not only empower intra-preneurs, who create change within existing companies and organizations, but also support entrepreneurs, whose new ventures challenge or augment the services of existing institutions and help advance both the private and public sectors."
