Worship Is....A New Renaissance

Worship Is....A New Renaissance

On November 21, the Vatican will hold an arts summit. 500 world-renowned artists will gather in the Sistine Chapel to "rekindle the special historical relationship between faith and art.” Bono, lead singer of U2, is among the artists confirmed to attend this unique gathering "aimed at bridging the gap that has developed between spirituality and artistic expression."

J. Scott McElroy created The New Renaissance Rising to encourage other Christians of every denominational background to join the conversation. The organization urges Christians to create their own initiatives to celebrate the arts on the 21st.

"The signs of the New Renaissance are all around," McElroy shares. Churches are opening art galleries in their buildings and using more music and digital media in services. On 11/21 "local artists, congregations and organizations around the world will gather in churches and public venues to celebrate God’s movement to reestablish the arts as a conduit for His love and light. These celebrations may be as simple as a small half-hour prayer gathering or as large as…well, whatever God inspires!"
